Today we will analyze one of the flagship applications in the Aleo network — zPass.

As we already know, one of the most promising areas of DApps development in the Aleo ecosystem is identification and authentication.

zPass covers all the needs of users in this area.

zPass tagline is: “truly secure identification…” and “make secure identification the new normal”) Why? Because data privacy is a very sensitive area right now.

The technical limitations of the Internet force users to choose between privacy and a personalized user experience. zPass can provide both!

There are two fundamentally opposed approaches:

  • classic (enter/upload your personal information, share it, and hope nothing bad happens);
  • zPass way (prove aspects of your identity without risking everything)

Let’s have a look at how zPass issues and verifies credentials. A trusted issuer, identity provider, company, or government agency will send you an email after verifying your credentials, asking if you want to add the credentials to your wallet.

After you install zPass, you need to confirm your information and your zPass is ready to use! Next, let’s look at a use case for your zPass.

Let’s say a crypto finance company requires users to verify their identity for account security purposes. Your wallet will prompt you to confirm the verification.

Once the proof received with your zPass is verified, you can continue to use the application. No sensitive information is disclosed. In this way, zPass enables identity verification without access to the user’s personal information.

zPass reduces the risk of data loss and identity theft. The key message to users is: “Avoid storing, protecting, and maintaining user data to make the Internet safer”.

Use cases for the zPass application:

  • Medical records
  • Legal identification
  • Financial
  • Encryption
  • Passing the qualification

So zPass is another interesting application that we will certainly be following on the mainnet that is just around the corner!
